How to Update Your Domain Nameservers

Standard Domains (.com, .net, .org, etc.)

For most generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) and standard extensions, nameserver updates are fully automated.

  • Process: Log into your client area, navigate to Domains > My Domains, select your domain, and input your new nameservers.

  • Propagation Time: While the change is submitted instantly, it typically takes 2 to 24 hours for the new nameservers to propagate globally across the internet.

Special Registry Extensions (.co.zw, .org.zw, .ac.zw)

If you are managing Zimbabwean domain extensions, the process and timelines are slightly different.

Unlike standard domains, extensions like .co.zw, .org.zw, and .ac.zw are manually managed and updated by their respective registries.

  • Process: You can still submit your nameserver update request through your client dashboard. However, instead of an instant automated update, your request is queued for manual processing by the registry administrators.

  • Propagation Time: Because of the manual verification and update process, these extensions usually take up to 24 hours to reflect.
